    March 27th, 2012 / Comments (0)

Heavy metal is a cultural phenomenon that unites its fans across borders, generations, genders, religions and social classes. Photographer Jörg Brüggemann traveled to Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Egypt, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Switzerland and the USA to shoot pictures of heavy metal fans for his new book Metalheads: The Global Brotherhood. The book releases this month and is available on Gestalten's site.

  • Coupe Studios Wants Your Most Bizarre Sound Ideas

    March 27th, 2012 / Comments (0)

Ever wonder what a pterodactyl doing the gallon challenge would sound like? Or what monstrosity would result from mixing equal parts Rebecca Black and Black Sabbath?

Well, now you can find out.

Boulder-based Coupe Studios, proud purveyors of music and sound design, is asking the creative community to tweet them their weirdest ideas involving music, sound design or
(hint, hint) a shotgun marriage between the two.

Favorite tweets will be turned into soundbites, credited to their authors, and posted up within Coupe’s Egotist banner ads.

Don’t miss this opportunity to immortalized in audio. Start tweeting your weird ideas to @coupestudios #soundideas.

  • If Your Ideas Have Ideas, W+K Shanghai Wants You

    March 21st, 2012 / Comments (0)

We can't help but think Wieden is trying to recruit creative thinkers from outside those who are currently in the ad industry with this piece. Oftentimes, these people — who aren't classically trained in advertising — are the ones who go the furthest in the business. Are you one? The animation was done by Shotopop.

  • Tips from Former Smokers

    March 16th, 2012 / Comments (0)

No one's quite figured out how to get people to stop smoking with ads. The evidence lies in the extreme pendulum swings that the tone of anti-smoking ads takes every couple of years. It's swung back in the direction of trying to be graphic and scary. It's nice work, but will it work?

  • A White House, Bright Paint and A Great Idea

    March 13th, 2012 / Comments (0)

In this spot for Dulux paint in which a paint sample gives you a peek into the future, The Sweet Shop director Melanie Bridge takes her signature style in a new direction by blending the fantastic with the real. Embarking on what seems like a stop motion house painting adventure, Melanie creates a fun spot that blurs the lines between handcrafted animation and quirky computer animation. Agency: Clemenger BBDO, Wellington.
